Biography

Sanford “Sam” Soper age 60 of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND surrounded by his family.
Sanford “Sam” Earl Soper was born on July 2, 1949 in Devils Lake, ND the son of Vernell and Clara (Tweten) Soper.
Sam grew up and attended school in Devils Lake, ND graduating with the Class of 1967. He went on and attended the University of North Dakota and graduated from there in 1974. On June 10, 1972 he was united in marriage to Diane Eckes in Devils Lake, ND. Sam worked for the Highway Host Standard and also the University Standard in Grand Forks, ND. He owned and operated the South Washington Amoco in Grand Forks and later became employed with Toyota in Grand Forks. He worked For Cirrus Design and then was employed with Pelusa of Grand Forks for the past year. He enjoyed spending time at Cass Lake, MN fishing and being in the outdoors. His sense of humor will be greatly missed by all.
Family members who survive Sam include his wife Diane of Grand Forks, ND; children: Heather (Chris) Hilfer of Hibbing, MN, Kelly (Anthony Stewart) Soper of Grand Forks, ND; 2 grandchildren: Joshua and Nathan Hilfer; father: Vernell of Devils Lake, NDl; 2 brothers: Kent Soper of Oklahoma City, OK and Keith (Jody) Soper of Lincoln, AK
