Kenneth L Larson

Kenneth Larson, 86, lifelong resident of Esther Township, rural East Grand Forks, MN died peacefully at home surrounded by his family, Tuesday, March 2, 2010 of pancreatic cancer.
Kenneth Levoy Larson was born July 8, 1923 to John and Emma (Johnson) Larson at home in Esther Township. He attended rural public school. He proudly and honorably served in the US Army from 1944 through the wars end in 1945. He was united in marriage to Barbara K. Bach on October 30, 1947. Kenneth worked at Great Northern Railroad, Transport Inc., Christy’s Hills Oliver Implement, and farmed with his brother Elmer Larson until his retirement in 1988. Barbara passed away in December 1985.
After more than 50 years he became reacquainted with Eileen Horejsh in 1997. They married on January 15, 2007. Kenneth never met a stranger, could fix or build anything, was very proud of family heritage. He was the family historian and traveled extensively throughout the US and was able to visit Norway twice. He had a pilots license and owned a 1939 Piper Cub airplane. Dad loved his family, took time to play with and enjoy his grandchildren, and was always sure to take the family on annual vacations. Kenneth’s family and friends enjoyed his mischievous spirit and the twinkle in his eye. He was a member of the East Grand Forks American Legion #157 and VFW #3817.
He is survived by his wife Eileen Horejsh Larson, sister Gladys Useldinger of Grand Forks, Children, Cheryel Larson of Brooklyn Park, MN, Terry (Toni) Larson, Keith (Sandi) Larson, Richard (Kathy) Larson, all of Grand Forks, Kathy (Larson) Odom of Midland, TX, Kent (Nancy) Larson, of Stillwater, MN, Ron (Donna) Larson of East Grand Forks, MN, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and special family friend, Tammy Graff.
In addition to his wife Barbara, Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, brother Elmer Larson, sisters Myrtle Kagg and Arlette Hudgel and grandson Jeremy Larson.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caring and compassionate staff of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
In Lieu of Flowers the family requests memorials to be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, East Grand Forks, the American Cancer Society or the Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Services: 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Rural East Grand Forks, MN.

Visitation: Friday, March 5, 2010 from 5-7 PM with a 6:30 prayer service at the Stennes Funeral Home, East Grand Forks, MN.

Burial: 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
