James Thompson, 76 of rural Grand Forks, ND died on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at his home with his family by his side. James N. Thompson was born June 11, 1934 in Grand Forks, ND the son of Melvin and Edith (McDonald) Thompson. He grew up in rural Grand Forks and attended school in Grand Forks. He joined the US Navy in 1952 and was discharged in 1957. He married Jean Jorgenson in Pueblo, CO on September 9, 1961. He then started working in construction and started his own masonry business in 1972 where he was self employed until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife Jean of Grand Forks, 1 son Marty of Grand Forks, 1 sister Margery (Bill) Wasylow of Larimore, ND, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters Mabel, Helen, Beverly and Janet and brothers Melvin Jr. and Richard.
Services: 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Sharon Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: 1 hour before services at the church.
Burial: Nisbet Cemetery, East Grand Forks, MN.
